We are back from an amazing art diplomacy trip where we taught a screen printing entrepreneur class throughout major cities in Oman. It was a fun time of bridging cultures, making new friends, and using art to spark ideas for the next generation of young leaders. Over two hundred youth attended the classes and had a chance to brainstorm about small business ideas, learn about the history of print making, and screen print their own t-shirts.

Joolz Restaurant Heart For Art Valentines Benefit for Rise Up – (Feb 13th & 14th)

Happy Holidays from Rise Up International! Please join us for our 3rd Annual // Larry & His Flask New Year Eve Celebration. Central Oregon’s own hometown hero’s “The Flask” have continued to build on the success of their energetic live show. 2012 saw them tour Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, The U.S. and Europe. They’ve received great press from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and the Huffington Post.

They will be joined by Austin Americana artist Possessed by Paul James who won the award for best Alternative Country Album at The 10th Annual Independent Music Awards. Fans of The Black Keys will enjoy power blues duo Hopeless Jack who are coming off a three month European tour themselves, as well as NW favorites the Terrible Buttons from Washington.

This past year Rise Up International had the privilege to go on five different trips as part of our Art Ambassador program to: Tunisia, Jordan, and Palestine. The purpose of the these trips were to promote peace and give youth a creative voice through interactive art workshops. We collaborated with local artists, youth centers, schools, and youth festivals to host art camps. Over the course of the year we worked with several hundred youth. After an amazing fall art tour in Jordan, and the Occupied West Bank we are back and miss making art with kids already! We received a little mini-grant to do some art in schools locally so looking forward to kicking that off in January.
