building community through music and art

We Are

What We Do

“Rise Up International really brought out the full abilities I never knew I had for designing… being able to surpass my ability as a junior graphic designer is all thanks to them.”

Inise Suliana – Suva, Fiji

Rise Up International was established as a non-profit in Bend, Oregon in 2005. We host ongoing workshops, art and music classes in local schools, summer camps, and collaborative events. Our passion is building community through music and art. We are operated by an amazing collective of local volunteers, artists, activists, and musicians.

Art Ambassadors

Our Art Ambassador program promotes goodwill and peace through international art empowerment workshops and educational programs for overlooked populations. We have conducted projects in over twenty countries around the globe in a variety of cultural diplomacy, arts, and educational projects. This program is funded in part by the U.S. Department Of State – Cultural Affairs Diplomacy initiatives. Our Art Ambassador projects have focused on conflict areas throughout the MENA region (Middle East, North Africa) and beyond. Rise Up’s Art Ambassador project was featured in The Source Weekly’s “Local Heroes” issue. Click here to read the article.

“Over the course of numerous collaborations, Rise Up International has proven to be not only consistently professional but also programmatically flexible and personally accessible to our local audiences – all of which are essential to cultural programming. I look forward to working with them again.”

David Duerden – U.S. Department of State

Ukuleles For Youth

Our Ukes for Youth project is designed to provide music education in local schools. This last year we had six local schools take advantage of Ukes for Youth: Miller, Bear Creek Elementary, Juniper, High Lakes, Jewell, and Buckingham Elementary.

The number of students at each school playing ukuleles varies from 150-250 per school. This means that Ukes for Youth has been responsible for providing ukuleles to well over one thousand Bend-LaPine students per year. This makes our local program one of the largest elementary school ukulele music programs in Oregon. Ukuleles have been purchased through funds that we raise through our annual Uke University Festival.
